no school

If you haven't already heard, the Tremont High School volleyball team won the super-sectional last night and has advanced to the IHSA state semifinal round, which will be played on Friday at 10:30 am at CEFCU Arena at Illinois State University.

To allow for as much school and community support and involvement as possible, all district schools, including the Turk Center, will be closed on Friday November 14th.  This student attendance day will be made up on March 13, 2026, which was originally scheduled as a full-day teacher institute.

We are getting the message out right away to provide families sufficient time to make necessary arrangements for Friday.

This is an unprecedented situation for us where a high school state semifinal game is scheduled on a school day during school hours.  Previous state semifinal contests in other sports have typically been held on Saturdays or in the spring, when schools are already out of session.  This is the first ever state tournament appearance for Tremont volleyball.

Of course, it would be great to have as many fans attend the game as possible.  Win or lose on Friday, the team will play again Saturday morning in either the 3rd place match (9:00 am) or the state championship (10:30 am).

We will offer a fan bus for high school students on Friday and Saturday.  More information about that and how to purchase tickets will be shared as details come together in the coming days. We will also repeat information about the school closing through a variety of methods to ensure the message is received so you will likely get multiple communications about it.

Thank you for your flexibility, understanding, and support.  GO TURKS!!!
