Hayden Alwerdt of the Tremont volleyball team was voted the Journal Star Girls Athlete of the Week for Sept. 7-12, presented by CEFCU.
Alwerdt was a catalyst in helping the Turks go 7-0 with a tournament title last week. She earned all-tournament team honors along with teammate Nora Parsons as Tremont won the Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 12. The Turks (14-2) took care of BHRA 25-18, 25-16 in the title match, not dropping a set all tourney.
