Note from the Principal's Desk

Tremont Middle School will be piloting the new PARCC Next Generation Assessments in April and May.  There are sample problems available now for all to see.  I encourage you to check them out at www.parcconline.org/computer-based-samples .  I think you will find them significantly different from the types of standardized tests we have taken in the past.

Also, 8th Grade Promotion has been set for Thursday, May 29th at 7:00.  Due to snow days, we will still be in school until June 2nd.  However, we did not want to have the promotion ceremony go into Turkey Festival Week as that is already a fun-filled, busy week for all of Tremont!

-Mr. Garrett, TMS Principal

TMS Students of the Month

Each month TMS has identified a particular character that we feel is important for students to learn about. Students from each grade level are nominated by their teachers and voted on by their peers as having displayed that character.

The theme of the month for May was "Finishing Well." A person who finishes well works hard toward goals, overcomes obstacles, does not give up easily, and is resourceful in reaching a goal.

Congratulations to the following students:

5th Grade: Blake Bolliger

6th Grade: Makayla Biggs

7th Grade: Logan Coy

8th Grade: Gena Watson

The theme of the month for April was "Tolerance."A tolerant person listens to the opinions of others even if they don't agree, appreciates the differences in others, stands up for people who are being picked on, refrains from forming opinions about others based on how they dress, color of skin, or how they appear, and displays these qualities genuinely.

Congratulations to the following students:

5th grade - Chase Render

6th grade - Tarlie Fitzanko

7th grade - Chase Bishop

8th grade - Dallas Allen
